The term tsuka (kanji: 柄) means "handle or hilt" in English. It is written つか in hiragana. It's pronounced roughly like "tsoo-kah".
This can refer to a sword hilt or a knife handle. It is used almost exclusively for the handles of weapons. 柄 can also be pronounced e (like “eh”), which also means handle but is used for objects ranging from writing brushes to umbrellas to brooms.
柄 has a third pronunciation, kara, which you will find, for example, in the word for arrowhead (矢柄, yagara, “arrow handle”) and for character or personality (人柄, hitogara).
