The term bushido (kanji: 武士道) means "way of the warrior" in English. It is written ぶしどう in hiragana. It may also be rendered in English as bushidou or bushidō. It's pronounced roughly like "boo she doh".
The way of the warrior. 道 can mean road, path, or way and is sometimes pronounced to, as in Shinto (神道, しんとう). The Japanese reading of 道 is michi.
武士, bushi, means warrior and is composed of the kanji characters for weapon and for samurai. 武 can mean martial, as in martial arts (budo, 武道, ぶどう). The kanji 士 can mean a respectable man, a man of learning, or a man who practices a skill or trade (and has some kind of certification to go with it). 士 can be found in the word for gentleman (shinshi, 紳士, しんし) and attorney (bengoshi, 弁護士, べんごし), to give two examples.
